What is this test? AMA by IFA (Anti-Mitochondrial Antibody) is a specific, reliable method (Immunofluorescence Assay) for detecting AMAs. It uses a fluorescent microscope to visualize the antibody binding pattern. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is drawn from a vein. Reports The IFA method reports the result as a titer. A higher titer is more clinically significant and strengthens the diagnosis of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC). Why is it Done? 🤔 To confirm a positive screening AMA test and provide a quantitative measure (titer) to support the diagnosis of PBC.
