What is this test? The ANCA-P (p-ANCA) test detects autoantibodies that most commonly target an enzyme called myeloperoxidase (MPO). The "p" stands for the perinuclear staining pattern around the neutrophil's nucleus. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is taken from a vein. No special preparations are required. Reports Results are reported as a titer and/or anti-MPO concentration. A positive result suggests the presence of autoimmune vasculitis. Why is it Done? 🤔 The p-ANCA test is done to: - Help diagnose vasculitides like Microscopic Polyangiitis (MPA) and Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA). - It can also be positive in inflammatory bowel disease. - Monitor disease activity and response to treatment.
