What is this test? The C3 (Complement C3) test measures the amount of C3 protein in the blood. C3 is part of the complement system, which helps the immune system clear microbes and damaged cells. Low levels indicate the system is being activated and consumed. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is drawn from a vein. No special preparations are needed. Reports Results are reported in mg/dL. - Low Levels: Indicate complement activation, seen in autoimmune diseases like lupus, certain kidney diseases, and infections. - High Levels: Can be seen during acute inflammation. Why is it Done? 🤔 The C3 test is ordered to: - Help diagnose and monitor autoimmune disorders, especially lupus. - Evaluate certain types of kidney disease. - Monitor disease activity and treatment effectiveness.
