What is this test? The CA 125 test measures a tumor marker protein in the blood. It is most strongly associated with ovarian cancer. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is taken from a vein. No special preparation is needed. Reports An elevated CA 125 can indicate ovarian cancer but can also be elevated in many non-cancerous conditions (endometriosis, fibroids, pregnancy). Why is it Done? 🤔 Primarily to monitor the effectiveness of treatment for ovarian cancer and to detect recurrence. It is NOT recommended as a general screening tool.
