What is this test? Culture & Sensitivity - Urine is done to detect and diagnose infection of the urinary tract due to microbial organisms. Blood sample is drawn from the vein in the arm. Test instructions Fasting- Not required. Alcohol- Please abstain from alcohol before the test. Medication- Any pre-existing medication should only be stopped after consultation with the referring Physician. Urine Collection- Urine sample should be collected in a sterile container provided by the technician. The genital area should be thoroughly cleaned with water and mid-stream urine should be collected. The sterile container should not come in contact with Genitals. Reports Soft Copy (Portal/Email): If the sample is collected before 12 noon, then the report will get delivered as per Reporting Time / Maximum TAT (Turn Around Time) indicated with the test. For samples collected after 12 Noon, 12 hours may be added to the Report Turn Around Time. Hard Copy: Delivered at home upon request. A small convenience fee may apply. Why is it Done? This test is ordered when symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections such as burning micturition (burning sensation while passing urine), frequent urge to urinate, blood in urine, lower abdominal pain are present. It is also advised in cases of fever where the cause is unclear. Pregnant women are also advised to undergo this test as a part of their routine ante natal screening.
Cancellation Policy
