What is this test? The IgM (Immunoglobulin M) test measures IgM antibodies, which are the first type of antibody the body produces in response to a new infection. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is drawn from a vein. No special preparation is necessary. Reports - High Levels: Often indicates a recent or active infection. Can also be elevated in autoimmune disease or Waldenström's macroglobulinemia. - Low Levels: May be seen in some immunodeficiency disorders. Why is it Done? 🤔 To help diagnose a current or recent infection and to evaluate a patient's immune status.
