What is this test? Insulin (Fasting / PP / Random) test measures the level of insulin in the blood. It can be done while fasting, postprandial (PP, after a meal), or at a random time. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is drawn. Fasting for 8-12 hours is required for a fasting test. Reports - High Fasting Insulin: Indicates insulin resistance (prediabetes, Type 2 diabetes). - Low Insulin: May indicate the pancreas is not producing enough insulin (Type 1 diabetes). Why is it Done? 🤔 To help diagnose insulin resistance, investigate hypoglycemia, and help determine the type of diabetes.
