What is this test? Kidney Function Test / RFT - Advanced is a group of tests that may be performed together to evaluate kidney function. It helps to diagnose kidney related diseases as well as monitor the treatment of kidney diseases. The Kidney Panel is also known as Kidney Function Test (KFT), Renal Function Test (RFT), Renal Profile, or Kidney Profile. The kidneys are a pair of bean-shaped organs located at the bottom of the rib cage and are mainly responsible for: Filtering waste products, excess water, and other impurities out of the blood. Regulating pH, salt, and potassium levels in the body. Regulating blood pressure and the production of red blood cells. Activating a form of vitamin D, that enhances calcium absorption. Test Parameters 1. Urea 2. Urea Nitrogen Blood 3. Creatinine 5. GFR Estimated 6. Uric Acid 7. Calcium, Total 8. Phosphorus 9. Sodium 10. Potassium 11. ChloridE Test instructions Alcohol: Please abstain from alcohol before the test. Medication: Any pre-existing medication should only be stopped after consultation with the referring Physician. Reports Soft Copy (Portal/Email): If the sample is collected before 12 noon, then the report will get delivered as per Reporting Time / Maximum TAT (Turn Around Time) indicated with the test. For samples collected after 12 Noon, 12 hours may be added to the Report Turn Around Time Hard Copy: Delivered at home upon request. A small convenience fee may apply. Why is it Done? When you have signs and symptoms that suggest that you may have a condition affecting the function of your kidneys; when you are being treated for kidney disease; when you have certain risk factors for kidney disease, such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
