What is this test? The LH (Luteinizing Hormone) test measures the amount of LH in the blood. LH is produced by the pituitary gland. In women, a sharp surge in LH triggers ovulation. In men, LH stimulates the testes to produce testosterone. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is taken from a vein. Timing may be specific to a day in the menstrual cycle. Reports - In Women: A dramatic surge occurs just before ovulation. A high LH:FSH ratio is a hallmark of PCOS. - In Men: High LH can indicate a problem with the testes. Why is it Done? 🤔 To investigate infertility, determine ovulation, diagnose PCOS, and assess menstrual or pituitary issues.
