What is this test? Prothrombin Time with INR (PT with INR) - Plasma test measures the amount of time it takes for your blood plasma to clot. Test instructions Test Instructions Alcohol: Please abstain from alcohol before the test. Medication: Any pre-existing medication should only be stopped after consultation with the referring Physician. Reports Soft Copy (Portal/Email): If the sample is collected before 12 noon, then the report will get delivered as per Reporting Time / Maximum TAT (Turn Around Time) indicated with the test. For samples collected after 12 Noon, 12 hours may be added to the Report Turn Around Time Hard Copy: Delivered upon request. A small convenience fee may apply. Why is it Done? It is routinely done test in individuals on anticoagulant medication warfarin. Regular testing helps in dose titration to keep the INR between 2-3. PT INR test is also done in dengue patients to check for bleeding risk. It is done in individuals with symptoms like easy bruising, frequent nose bleeds, gum bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeds.
