What is this test? The TORCH screen is a panel of blood tests for infections that can cause birth defects if a mother contracts them during pregnancy. TORCH stands for: Toxoplasmosis, Other infections, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus, and Herpes simplex virus. Test Instructions 📝 A blood sample is drawn from the mother's arm. Sometimes a sample is also taken from the newborn. Reports The report shows results for IgG and IgM antibodies to each infection. - IgG Positive: Indicates a past infection or immunity. - IgM Positive: Suggests a recent or current infection. Why is it Done? 🤔 To determine immunity status in a pregnant woman or to investigate the cause of birth defects in a newborn.
Cancellation Policy
